Description
Data are presented on measurements of F-centre absorption in KBr single crystals irradiated with X-rays under d.c. fields and subjected to magnetic fields or crossed magnetic and electric fields. The dose-response relationship, peak shift, and half-width of the F-centre absorption are described for the various treatments; the influence of the magnetic and electric fields leads to a reduction in absorption. The influence of magnetic and electric fields on the dielectric properties of KBr crystals was also investigated; a variation of the dielectric constant with frequency was found. Finally the thermoluminescence characteristics of the KBr crystal were determined for the conditions of x-irradiation under a d.c. field and subjected to crossed magnetic and electric fields. (U.K.)
