Superconducting thin films of (RE)1Ba2Cu3O7

  • 1. THOMSON-CSF Laboratoire Central de Recherches BP10 - F-91401 ORSAY CEDEX (France)

Description

Applications of high critical temperature thin films depend on their structure quality. For this purpose, many growth techniques have been used. In this paper, the authors refer to papers of French teams and discuss the important parameters which, whatever the technique, acts on the film properties. (RE)1(BaF2)2Cu3 (RE= Yb or Er) have been epitaxially grown on (100) SrTiO3 substrates using the MBE technique, starting from copper, Barium fluorine, and RE. After a long classical annealing under oxygen, with water partial pressure samples exhibit high Tc superconducting properties. With short annealing, 2:4:4 phase vanishes and 1:2:3 become more textured with c-axis perpendicular to the substrate
