Description
A mathematical model has been developed to describe the movement of HTO in gravel. The best fitting diffusion coefficient (7.14x10-4 cm2/s) found in gravel was one order of magnitude greater than the self-diffusion coefficient of water. The comparison of the theoretical and experimental results shows that their agreement is quite good while the activity is moving in the unsaturated zone. When it reaches the ground water table the conditions for the movement change and the agreement turns poorer. (author)
