Magnetic resonance imaging in pediatrics

This paper is aimed mainly at providing pediatricians with information about the practical aspects of magnetic resonance imaging and introducing them to the new terms used in this technique without however going into the intricacies of magnetic resonance. Magnetic resonance imaging is primarily indicated for studying soft tissues, the central nervous system, soft parts in general and specifically the ''envelope'' of the bones and joints, and the cardiovascular system. Selected images illustrating the results for most organs easily show and demonstrate the technique's advantages, and draw attention to the value of the anatomic or even pathologic representation of anomalies in all the different planes. No ionizing radiations are delivered. The main drawbacks are the length and cost of studies
