On magnetic transitions in GdFeO3

Description

GdFeO3 belongs to multiferroic family wherein spontaneous electric polarization coexists with magnetic order. A nanocrytalline sample of GdFeO3 was prepared and investigated its magnetic properties at very low temperatures. These studies affirm low temperature magnetic phase transition at TN ∼ 2.5 K with Gd moments ordering antiferromagnetically. Non linear magnetization behaviour indicates a spin reorientation transition and also indicates that a correct identification of the ground state of Gd is required
