The electric giant resonances

  • 1. Kernfysisch Versneller Inst., Groningen, (Netherlands)

Description

After a presentation of experimental methods used to study giant resonances, the systematics on the isoscalar and isovector resonances is discussed. Another section is devoted to a discussion of the effect of static and dynamic deformation of the ground state of the nucleus on the shape of the giant resonances, while the next one contains a short overview of the main results obtained up to now from studies on giant resonances built on excited states. The final section summarize what is known experimentally about giant electric resonances. 200 refs, figs and tabs
