Determination of radionuclides in biological fluids using a high resolution ICP-MS in low resolution mode

  • 1. AEA Technology/Analytical Services, Didcot (United Kingdom)

Description

High Resolution (HR) ICP-MS in low resolution mode was used with ultrasonic nebulization to determine long-lived radionuclides and surrogates in human body fluid samples. Although very sensitive, achieving LODs less than 0.1 fg/mL for 244Pu, a number of molecular ion interferences have been encountered from commonly-occurring species which limit sensitivity and require the development of specialized sample preparation routes
