Development of radiation-chemical technology for production of rubber products using electron accelerators

Description

Results of work for creating a technology for production of industrial rubber products (IRP) by the method of radiational vulcanization are presented. The most advanced part of this work is the creation of a technology for production of extruded products made of silicone rubbers. Vulcanization of silicone rubbers is made by doses of 4-6 Mrad. A number of characteristics of silicone rubbers irradiated by an electron beam is given as functions of the absorbed dose. It follows from these characteristics that with account of all the characteristics under study samples vulcanized radiationally are not worse than those obtained with thermal vulcanization with the use of the dicumyl peroxide. It is noted that some characteristics of rubbers can be regulated by varying the absorbed dose without changes in their composition. A technological scheme for continuous extrusion of rubber products is given. It is shown that the radiational-chemical technology of IRP production on the basis of silicone rubbers is perspective
