Description
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of the renovascular hypertension model by cannula ligation of unilateral renal artery of dogs. Methods: The experimental animals (dogs) were divided randomly into four groups including normal control group, stenosis control group, nephrectomy group and renal arterial embolization group. The unilateral renal arteries of latter three groups were ligated. The mean arterial pressure was obtained by measuring through carotid artery sheath. The authors estimate and discuss the established hypertension by monitoring marker-blood pressure, renin-angiotensin, creatinine, urea and angiography. Results: Normal control group mean arterial pressure and other groups normal mean arterial pressure (before ligating operation) were (142.5 +- 2.6)/(87.6 +- 2.5) mmHg. After ligation within one to three days, the mean arterial pressure began to elevate and after six days reached a steady high level [(195.6 +- 14.7)/(135.6 +- 10.5) mmHg. After ligation the mean arterial pressure of dogs was significant higher than the normal (P < 0.01). The average stenotic degree of renal artery was more than 80% in angiography. Conclusions: To establish renovascular hypertension experimental animal model by cannula ligation of unilateral renal artery is feasible simulating that in human being, easy for reduplication are success
