Study on lead distribution in rocks by fission track radiography method

Description

The concentration and spatial distribution of lead in bituminous dolomite were investigated using the method of track autoradiography. The comparison of the results obtained by detecting the tracks due to 16O - induced α-activity in nitrate cellulose with those for the tracks due to the prompt fission of lead nuclei, induced by oxygen ions in muscovite mica detectors has shown that fission fragment autoradiography allows one to improve significantly both the spatial resolution and sensitivity of the technique as compared with α-radiographic method
