Technical approach to some problems concerning the radioactive liquid waste treatment, 1
Creators

Description
This report describes the outline of the radioactive liquid waste treatment systems and the procedure for the measurements of radioactive nuclide concentration in liquid waste in Research Reactor Institute, Kyoto Univ. Since 1979, γ-ray spectrometries have been made using Ge semiconductor detector and revealed the behavior of radioactive nuclides in liquid waste during treatments. Several illustrations are presented and the results obtained are summarized as follows: (1) Coagulation and precipitation treatment is effective to remove total α-radioactivity and 60Co. (2) Inorganic ion-exchange treatment is necessary to remove 137Cs validly. (3) Organic ion-exchange treatment is necessary to remove 51Cr validly. (author)
