Sorption of iridium (3) chloride complexes on hydrated zirconium dioxide

Description

The sorption capacity of hydrated zirconium dioxide in relation to iridium (3) chloride complexes is investigated. It is extablished that sorbent capacitance depends on iridium concentration in a solution, temperature, pH value and ''aging time'' of solutions, sorbent granules size, nature and concentration of base electrolyte. It is shown that the sorption of iridium (3) chloride complexes from acid solutions occurs according to ion-exchange mechanism by exchage of sorbent OH--groups for anionic iridium (3) chlorocomplexes. It is assumed that iridium (3) sorption from natural solutions is connected with the interaction of OH- groups of hydrolized iridium complex with sorbent
