Passage of an electron beam with E ≥ 1 keV in the upper atmosphere
Description
A model of fast electron interaction with the upper atmosphere is suggested. It is suggested that the flux isotropization proceeds faster than its relaxation in energy. Function of electron distribution in energy is determined by solving a kinetic equation in approximation of continuous energy losses by the primary flux electron. The rates of ion formation in the lower ionosphere are calculated. Comparison of ion formation rates with the same values obtained by other authors displays that account of electron diffusion in atmosphere results in a certain decrease of height at which maximum ion formation rate is obtained
