Description

This paper presents the development of vendor independent safety analysis capability in response to the needs for supporting nuclear power plants in the 2lst century. One of the major needs is the need of analysis, especially safety analysis such as for reload core design and for plant system design changes. Usually, the Nuclear Steam Supply System vendors such as General Electric and Westinghouse, and the fuel suppliers such as Siemens Power Company provide all the analyses; however, more and more needs from the plants are raised for the vendor independent analysis capability. The significance of this capability for the current and the future needs is discussed. The analysis methodology is described and the experience of Taiwan is presented. (author)
