A double crystal monochromator using tangentially bent crystals in combination with toroidal mirror focusing

Description

The trend in beamline design has been to systems of greater complexity and cost, albeit with very large increases in performance. Here we present a design that attempts to simplify the system to a minimum, while preserving extremely high performance. This is achieved through placement of all optics close to the source inside the shield wall, the use of a tangentially bent 2 crystal monochromator, and a 1 : 1 focusing toroidal mirror
