Hot-core characterization of direct-drive spherical cryogenic D2 target implosion

Description
A novel model to infer the hot-core temperature-density profiles in cryogenic deuterium capsule implosions is presented. The profiles are consistent with the measured primary deuterium-deuterium and secondary deuterium-tritium yields, the neutron-averaged ion temperature, and the x-ray image at peak neutron production. The electron pressure and the areal density of a neutron-producing region were inferred to be 2.7±0.4 Gbar and ∼10 mg/cm2, respectively. This new model introduces a more accurate hot-core characterization from previous techniques
