Phase transformations in hafnium-bearing cast nickel-base superalloys
Creators
- 1. Institute of Aeronautical Materials, Beijing, People's Republic of China
Description
Phase transformations in hafnium-bearing cast alloys have been investigated metallographically, by electron diffraction, X-ray, and chemical phase analysis in the temperature range 850-1240 C. An intermetallic phase Ni5Hf has been identified in nickel-base alloys containing more than 0.4 wt% Hf. This phase is usually found around the gamma+gamma-prime eutectic and appears as small blocks or in cellular form. At temperatures above 900 C, Ni5Hf transforms to Hf-rich MC
