Quantumdots: themechanism for sensing and the application prospect in Nucleare fuel reprocessing analysis

Description

Quantum dots have been extensively studied because of their unique optical properties. They have the potential to overcome many of the limitations encountered by conventional organic fluorophores. Quantum dots can be used as the attractive fluorescent probe for the analysis of ions and molecules based on different mechanisms, including fluorescence enhancement, fluorescence quenching, fluorescence recovery and fluorescence resonance energy transfer. Several factors which influence the sensing results were demonstrated in detail, which including the surface state, the particle size and the surrounding conditions. On the basis, the application prospect of the quantum dots in nuclear fuel reprocessing analysis was discussed. Quantum dots are expected to be applied to the analysis of ions and molecules in the nuclear fuel reprocessing process and the difficulties and possible resolvent were proposed. (authors)
