Description
Formation of 12C by combining three-alpha nuclide is an interesting subject because the two-alpha binary cluster 8Be (alpha+alpha) is unstable while the triple-alpha (alpha+alpha+alpha) cluster is stable resembling a Borromean like structure. In stellar nucleosynthesis, the triple alpha- clustering process could have played an important role in the formation of 12C. The Literature survey reveals that Hafstad and Teller in 1938 identified alpha-particle systems having a set of dynamical symmetries. In 1953, Hoyle predicted the famous cluster state in 12C known as Hoyle state. Ikeda diagram by Ikeda et. al., explains the proximity of cluster states to the decay threshold as crucial. Experimental evidence of the formation of the cluster structure of light nuclei is well documented by Freer, 2007. During the middle of the 20th century, alpha particles continued to play a crucial role in nuclear physics with the various nuclear model. Providing evidence for the tightly bound exotic nature of conjugate nuclei like 8B, 12C, 16O, 20Ne, 24Mg, 28Si, etc. In the present work, we apply the few-body model to investigate the role of fusion reaction in the formation of 12C. The result of the calculations will be presented during the conference. (author)
