Description
At present CERN considers building a new collider of about 8 TeV, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). It is foreseen to install the LHC in CERN's already existing 27 km long LEP tunnel. To achieve the requested energy of LHC, superconducting magnets are required. Such magnets are under development; one line followed are Nb3Sn-magnets operating at 4.2 K with a nominal field of about 10 T. It is the aim to prove that Nb3Sn magnets can be produced in an industrial style. The present paper reports on the status achieved
