Description

The total installed electricity generation capacity in India, as of end 1986, was 47.6 GWe, made up of 64% coal baaed thermal, 33% hydel and 3% nuclear. Total electricity generated during '86 was about 180 bKWh. The present annual compound growth rate of the installed capacity is about 8.5% and the total planned capacity by the end of 1990 is about 66 GWe. The demand for the electrical energy is growing continuously and the planned capacities will not be adequate to meet the demands. This year, there is power out in parts of the country due to drought
