Histopathologic correlation of parotid tumors

Description

Malignization percentage of parotid pleomorphic adenoma is defined with fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB), prior negative in patients operated by parotid tumor in the Hospital San Juan de Dios between 2008-2012. Patients diagnosed with pleomorphic adenoma by FNAB are described in time, place and person. The histological type of parotid tumors diagnosed are defined. Management offered to patients diagnosed with parotid tumors is understood in the Hospital San Juan de Dios. Complications associated with surgical procedure in patients are specified. A quarter part the of parotid tumors from the series analyzed have been malignant, a similar percentage described in the literature

Abstract (Spanish)

El porcentaje de malignizacion de adenoma pleomorfico de parotida es definido con biopsia por aspiracion con aguja fina (BAAF), previo negativo en pacientes operados por tumor parotideo en el Hospital San Juan de Dios entre 2008-2012. Los pacientes diagnosticados con adenoma pleomorfico mediante BAAF son descritos en tiempo, lugar y persona. El tipo histologico de los tumores de parotida diagnosticados son definidos. El manejo brindado a los pacientes diagnosticados con tumores parotideos es comprendido en el Hospital San Juan de Dios. Las complicaciones asociadas al procedimiento quirurgico en los pacientes son especificadas. Una cuarta parte de los tumores parotideos de la serie analizada han sido malignos, un porcentaje similar a lo descrito en la literatura
