Description
The information presented by various contributions in this second volume briefly summarizes the accident scenario and the report given by USSR officials, and analyses the causes of events. Further topics deal with reactor safety in general, but specifically the safety of nuclear power plants installed in the Federal Republic of Germany, and with the incidents reported from the Cattenom power station in France. The act concerning precautionary radiation protection and environmental monitoring is explained, and said to be an 'enabling act' for the Federal Minister of Environmental Affairs. Practical information refers to the problem of nutrition and presents recommendations for 'low-activity' meals, especially for avoiding ingestion of Cs-137. (HP)
