Pressure-induced line shifts of hydrogenic ions in strongly coupled plasma

  • 1. Paris-11 Univ., 91 - Orsay (France). Lab. de Physique des Gaz et des Plasmas

Description

Elaborating upon the observation that highest electron-ion screened (Debye) bound states extend over many interionic distances, an iterative and nonlinear procedure is developed based on renormalization group ideas and successive inclusion of ionic orbitals with increasing excitation to derive pressure-induced blue line shifts (with respect to the Debye ones) in strongly coupled plasmas (SCP) for partially ionized Hydrogenic ions. Results are parametrized in terms of nuclear charge Z and electron plasma parameter 0.4 < Λsub(e) < 0.9. (author)
