The enthalpy of formation of thulium trifluoride
Description
The energy of formation of thulium trifluoride was measured by direct fluorination of thulium metal in a bomb calorimeter. From the experimental results the standard enthalpy of formation ΔH0sub(f)(TmF3, c, 298.15 K) was determined to be -(1656 +- 7) kJ mol-1 and the standard Gibbs energy of formation ΔG0sub(f) (TmF3, c, 298.15 K) was estimated to be -(1579 +- 7) kJ mol-1.
