A note on the extraction of total cross sections of interaction of multiparticle states with nucleons from experiments on nuclei
Description
The smallness of the total cross section of the inteaction of A1 and Q-mesons with nucleons, observed in experiments on nuclei, may be explained in the framework of the conventional multiple rescattering theory if one adopts a hypothesis, according to which the total cross section of the interaction of longitudinally polarized vector mesons with nucleons is much less than that with transversely polarized vector mesons. The differential cross section of the process πA → A1A is analysed to determine the influence of the intermediate channels of this process on the total cross section of the interaction of longitudinally polarized vector mesons with nucleons
