Ce(III), Th(IV) and U(VI) complexes with some p-benzoquinone derivatives
Description
Cerium, thorium and uranyl nitrates were reacted with an alcoholic solution of 2,3,5,6-tetrahydroxy-p-benzoquinone. Complexes were formed which were analyzed chemically. Electronic absorption spectra and infrared spectra were recorded. The stoichiometry of the complexes is discussed. The apparent formation constants were determined. The IR spectra are discussed. Attempts to isolate the metal complexes with 2,5-diamino,3,6-dibromo-p-benzoquinone were unsuccessful. (U.K.)
