The chemical form of plutonium in the bile of the rat

Description

Plutonium-bearing bile samples were obtained from adult male rats in two ways, which are described. The measurement of radioactivity is described, and details are given of the gel permeation chromatography used to resolve the plutonium-bearing bile. Results from experiments on the elution of plutonium-bearing rat bile through columns of Sephadex G-25 superfine are recorded and discussed. It is concluded that carbonate is the complexing agent for plutonium in bile. (U.K.)
