A microcomputer simulation to train operators for a tritium removal facility

  • 1. Simulator Services Dept., Technical and Training Services, Ontario Hydro, Ontario (Canada)

Description

The authors discuss the building of a tritium removal facility (TRF) at the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station (NGS) site on Lake Ontario, east of Toronto. The operators there had no previous operating experience with this type of process; furthermore the control room equipment chosen for this facility is one of the first of its kind in Canada. The TRF system is to be controlled by a digital computer control system utilizing custom keyboards and colourgraphics CRT monitors as the man-machine interface. A microprocessor based computer simulation (microsimulation) approach was chosen for training the operators. The system is discussed in this paper
