Materials problems in breeder reactors
Description
Breeder reactors are now being actively developed by several countries because of their promise greatly to increase the world's nuclear energy resources. These reactors provide a new environment for materials and give rise to some novel effects. Below are described some of the unique materials problems being studied, which concern sodium chemistry, fuel performance, and radiation effects.
