Problems of pathogenesis of postirradiation gastro-intestinal syndrome
Description
Pathophysiologic analysis of the intestinal form of radiation disease is performed. It proves that intestinal injury accompanied by cell destruction of mucosa is the main but not the only mechanism of animal death in the case of superlethal irradiation. Deceleration of intestinal epithelium detachment under conditions of local irradiation as compared with the total effect in these doses can prove the presence of mechanisms changing its radiosensitivity and ability for repair. The importance of intersystem relations of bone marrow and intes-- tines, state of vascular system and microcirculation, weakening of functional load on gastro-intestinal tract and other factor, are underlined. With the increase of radiation dose (for rodents more than 21.2-24.1 Gy) the main contribution in the radiation death is brought about by the damage of ressels and microcirculation violation preventing both regeneration of intestinal epithelium and causing deep homeostasis disfunction
