Description
The reactions of La2O3 with NH4X (X = Cl, Br) were examined thermoanalytically. It was found that it is necessary to add 10 moles of NH4X to 1 mole of La2O3, for forming the pure, anhydrous lanthanum trihalide. LaX3 x 2 NH4X-compounds were observed as intermediates. (author)
