Analysis and characterization of groundwaters, colloids and sediments in the course of investigations of radionuclide migration in the caprock above the Gorleben salt dome

Description
The development work in the field of colloid research performed at the Institute of Radiochemistry of the Munich Technical University was part of the investigations into radionuclide migration in the caprock of the salt dome of the planned Gorleben repository. About 300 groundwaters from the caprock above the salt dome were exhaustively analysed. By means of modified ultra-filtration methods, colloidal fractions for further characterization were produced in several groundwaters rich in humates. The investigations have shown that humates are laden with metal ions of all valencies. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die am Institut fuer Radiochemie der Technischen Universitaet Muenchen (TUM) geleisteten Entwicklungsarbeiten auf dem Gebiet der Kolloidforschung erfolgten im Rahmen von Untersuchungen zur Radionuklidmigration im Deckgebirge des geplanten Endlagers fuer radioaktive Stoffe im Salzstock bei Gorleben. Etwa 300 Grundwaesser aus dem Deckgebirge ueber dem Salzstock wurden ausfuehrlich analysiert. Mit Hilfe modifizierter Ultrafiltrationsmethoden wurden in einigen huminstoffreichen Grundwaessern Kolloidfraktionen fuer die weitere Charakterisierung hergestellt. Diese Untersuchungen belegen, dass Huminstoffe mit Metallionen aller Wertigkeitsstufen beladen sind. (orig.)
