LDC nuclear power: Yugoslavia

Nuclear energy developments hold an established place as one of Yugoslavia's national priorities for overall economic development because energy needs cannot be met optimally by existing resources, and because industries utilize the concepts associated with nuclear power development in producing nuclear and nonnuclear exports. Yugoslavia can now supply 50% of a nuclear power plant's equipment and all fuel needs for the first five reactors scheduled to be operating by the year 2000. There are plans for 12 more reactors and direct exports of electricity to Soviet-bloc nations. 62 references, 2 tables
