Coolant for gas cooled reactor
Description
The present invention concerns a composition of coolants used in a gas-cooled type reactor (AGR) using helium gas as coolants. Gases comprising helium mixed at least one CO2 and CO gases are used as coolants. The mixing ratio of CO2 gas and the CO gas is determined while considering, for example, the thermal property of the cooling gas, oxidative corrosion of reactor structural materials (graphite steels, etc.) due to the CO gas and the effect of coolant helium on the performance of a purification system. With such a constitution, friction coefficient of graphite in the reactor is lowered to be substantially equal with that in the air. Accordingly, the friction between a support plate made of low alloy steels and graphite materials is reduced, to ensure mechanical and thermodynamic properties in the reactor. (I.N.)
