The CERN storage rings (ISR)
Description
The background and history of the CERN ISR is briefly presented and the basic principles described. Some of the technical problems, e.g. the vacuum system and instabilities are treated and background radiation is briefly discussed. The mode of operation is described and the experiment programme is outlined. Finally a table showing the main parameters is given. (JIW)
