Response of inorganic scintillators for high-energy heavy ions
- 1. Nagoya Univ., Solar-Terrestrial Environment Lab. (STEL), Nagoya, Aichi (Japan)
Description
For the upgraded version of the LHCf detector at LHC/CERN, sampling calorimeters using GSO scintillator will be used because of high radiation hardness. We have examined the response of GSO scintillators to heavy ion beam. The linearity of photomultiplier tubes (PMT) output for large light yield was measured with Xe ions and the radiation hardness to large absorbed dose was investigated with C ions. Preliminary results confirms the previous ones and good radiation hardness up to ∼106 Gy. The detailed analysis is in progress. (author)
