Description

The experiments for the investigation of the physics of a Light Water High Conversion Reactor (LWHCR) at the PROTEUS reactor facility in Switzerland was terminated at the end of 1990. For the comparison - with results of cell calculations - of reaction rate ratios and k∞ measured in these LWHCR lattice experiments, a number of correction factors was calculated using data and methods available at KfK. The calculation of correction factors for PROTEUS experiments is described and some results of cell calculations are compared with measured reaction rate ratios and k∞. It is shown that k∞ values of most LWHCR lattices can be predicted within the experimental error limit using codes and nuclear data developed at KfK for LWHCR studies. Larger discrepancies still exist between calculated and measured reaction rate ratios. (orig./DG)
