Correlation characteristics of triton and long range alpha particle accompanied fission of Cf-252

  • 1. Inst of Atomic Energy, Beijing (China)

Description

The multi-parameter technique was used to study detailed correlation characteristics of light charged particle (long range alpha (LRA) or triton) energy with the total kinetic energy (TKE) of fragments and with the average number of prompt neutrons bar ν and with the average number of prompt γ-rays. For binary fission, triton- and LRA-accompanied fission the values of mean TKE are 184.3 MeV (used here as standard), 173.6 ± 0.2 MeV and 171.9 ± 0.1 MeV, while it was found that the average number of the prompt neutrons are 3.737 ± .009, 2.95 ± 0.05 and 3.13 ± 0.02. It has been found that the value of prompt γ-ray yield in triton accompanied fission (TAF) is same as that in long range alpha accompanied fission (LRAF) and is equal to 84% of γ-ray yield in binary fission. The detailed correlation characteristics in both TAF and LRAF were obtained and compared
