Description
To present effective technical options for reducing the environmental load (amount of waste and radiation impact) in the disposal of radioactive waste, it is necessary to evaluate the relationship between the nuclear fuel cycle conditions and the waste characteristics quantitatively. In that case, exposure dose based on the nuclide migration, which is a long-term safety evaluation for geological disposal, radiotoxicity of the waste, quantity balance of the full nuclear fuel cycle, effect of nuclide separation, and combustion characteristics of separated nuclides in fast reactors are involved. The outline of and progress in our cross-disciplinary nuclear systems research to support efforts to reduce the load of radioactive waste disposal are presented. (author)
