Description
A method is proposed for estimating the resolution of experimental measurements in a linear model, allowing the measurement errors to be unequal and correlated. The properties of the method are investigated and compared to the maximum likelihood estimate. A procedure for testing the hypothesis of uniform detector behaviour is given. (orig.)
