Full text: The programmable digital comparator system is a safety critical system. The system compares process signals against programmable set-points and generates alarm outputs for reactor shutdown, reactor power setback, control of equipment as well as for annunciation. The paper describes the system, its functions, defence-in-depth built into the system, fault-tolerant and fail-safe features of the system
