Evaluation of dynamic mechanical properties by instrumented impact testing
Creators
- 1. Post Irradiation Examination Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
The instrumented impact testing technique in which the pendulum tup of the testing machine is usually instrumented, provides digital output and also graphs of the variation of load and energy over time during the entire impact event from fracture initiation to rupture during specimen testing. Thus it can yield additional information on dynamic properties in addition to information normally obtained from conventional impact test. This paper illustrates instrumented impact testing technique and some results obtained using the technique. (author)
