Spontaneous breakdown and current algebras
Description
We demonstrate the equivalence of spontaneously broken SU2 x SU2 chiral invariance and current algebras in a field-theoretic model. The model consists of an isospinor Fermi field (''nucleon'') and an isovector, pseudoscalar, massless bound state (''pion''). The spontaneous breakdown of the chiral SU2 symmetry induces an E3 symmetry at the observational level. Its consequences are examined and are shown to be equivalent to conventional SU2 x SU2 current algebra results. (author)
