Description
Objective: To analyze and evaluate the role of intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) complicated by cardiogenic shock (CS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. Methods: The clinical data of 36 patients with AMI complicated by CS from January 1st 2003 to December 31st 2007 were collected. The treatment effects of IABP were analyzed with statistical methods. Results: IABP threatment can markedly restore heart rate and blood pressure, with stable short-term condition of the patient reaching 50%. The mortalities of 30-day and 3-month were 41.7% and 47.2%, respectively. Conclusion: Application of IABP in AMI complicated by CS undergoing PCI is safe and effective. (authors)
