The design of AGR thermal shield details for high temperature applications
Description
The AGR thermal shield design principles are described and it is demonstrated that there is scope for the development of high temperature design code rules specific to these components. The progress that has been made in this direction is discussed with particular reference to the development of a cyclic life assessment method for cold-worked Alloy 800 cylindrical bellows units operating at 650 0C. It is demonstrated that the effect of cold work in this case is to improve the life expectancy beyond that of a similar annealed unit. (author)
