Effect of phase composition on corrosion properties of Mg-Y system alloys in neutral solutions

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow (Russian Federation). Inst. Fizicheskoj Khimii

Description

Phase composition effect on corrosion solution of magnesium-8.2% ittrium binary system is studied. It is shown that appearance in alloy structure of intermetal compound Mg24Y5, representing effective cathode, results in increase of alloy selfsolution rate under conditions of anode galvanostatic polarization
