Description

The properties and origin of the interlayer coupling as well as possible magnetic ordering of the magnetic superlattices still remain important problems of magnetism. This paper is a brief summary of interlayer magnetic coupling models, including the predicted temperature dependence of the coupling. The efficiency of the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) method as a tool for studying the interlayer coupling is analyzed. The latest experimental investigations involving the FMR approach to the interlayer coupling in Fe/Cr superlattices and sandwiches in a wide temperature range, are reviewed (including the original works done by the author and coworkers). The experimental results are discussed in the frame of existing theories. The possibility of describing the properties of Fe/Cr multilayer systems using these theories is discussed
