60th anniversary of first observation of synchrotron radiation
Description
In year 1947, the electrons accelerated up to energy 70 MeV in a storage ring made of glass tube permitted to observe, for the first time, synchrotron radiation with the maximum photon flux in the visible region. Modern synchrotrons emit continuous radiation in the region of energy from microwaves up to hundreds keV. W roku 1947 przyspieszenie elektronow do energii 70 MeV w szklanym pierscieniu akumulacyjnym synchrotronu umozliwilo pierwsza obserwacje emisji tego promieniowania z maksimum natezenia strumienia fotonow w obszarze widzialnym. Aktualnie uzywane synchrotrony wysylaja promieniowanie ciagle w zakresie energii od mikrofal do kilkuset keV.
