Reduction reextraction of plutonium by means of bivalent iron
Description
Kinetics of plutonium reducing re-extraction in the system of nitric acid-water-tributyl phosphate-carbon tetrachloride has been studied. Plutonium re-extraction was done by means of Fe(NO3)2 with the addition of hydrazine nitrate as a bivalent iron stabilizer. It is shown that the rate of plutonium reducing re-extraction increases with the decrease of nitric acid concentration and that the diffusion plays an imprΩrtant role in the process especially with the low nitric acid concentration in the aqueous solution. The aqueous solution acidity decrease up to a value not exceeding IM as well as intense mixing are recommended as the optimal conditions for the re-extraction process conducting
